As a mobile veterinary ultrasonographer, I've had the privilege of working alongside countless, amazingly-skilled veterinarians in their practices. However, one similar conversation kept repeating itself: "I have an ultrasound machine, but I'm still not confident using it", "I can never find the organs I'm looking for" or “We only had a half day tutorial on ultrasound at University.” Sadly, many feel that they’re in over their depth.

These conversations sparked an idea. Instead of another dense textbook or a weekend crash-course, why not create something different? Something that feels like having a friendly colleague right there with you, guiding you through each scan.

That's how eVet Guides was born. Our first guide breaks down abdominal ultrasound into practical, easy-to-follow steps, packed with real-world images and written in a conversational style that makes learning feel natural and, dare I say it, fun! It’s probe-ably the best guide around if we do say so ourselves!

We also offer a comprehensive ultrasound reporting template, complete with real-world examples of completed reports. No more staring at a blank page wondering where to start!

But this is just the beginning. Coming soon, we'll be releasing guides covering abnormal ultrasound findings and their differentials, a specialised guide for those pesky cryptorchid hunts (they make me so testy!) and a focused resource for emergency ultrasound scenarios. Each guide maintains our commitment to practical, accessible learning.

At eVet Guides, we believe that mastering ultrasound shouldn't be intimidating. Sometimes, all you need is a friendly guide showing you the way.

And who knows what the future holds? As we grow and evolve alongside the veterinary community, we're excited to explore new ways to support your practice - whether that's through ultrasound resources or branching into other areas where practical, friendly guidance could make all the difference. Stay tuned!

Stay tuned for the release of our Veterinary Abdominal Ultrasound Guide Part 2 for the ‘cool stuff’!
